How to Build a Dashboard
A dashboard is useful when it helps a team notice deviations and decide what to do next, not when it simply displays many charts.
What to include
- Choose the main decision.
- Limit the number of KPIs.
- Show dynamics and comparison.
- Add clear status and next steps.
How to make it useful
Do not start with charts. Start with the decision the report should support, then select the metrics, comparisons and comments that explain the situation.
Result
The final material should show the current status, the main driver, the risk area and the next action for the manager or team.
